  • Mil Mi-26 HALO 1:72

    Mil Mi-26 HALO 1:72

The Mil Mi-26 (NATO code name Halo) is the worlds heaviest and largest series built helicopter. It was developed for a useful load of 20 tons over a 800 km distance. Series production started in 1980. From 1983 onwards 60 Mi-26 saw use in the then Soviet Air Force. Both Lotarev-turbines delivering a power total of 22.800 hp pk together with the drive box make up the hart of this super helicopter. The rotor hub with eight blades and the five bladed tail rotor are built from titanium. To improve the flying and tactical capabilities of this giant helicopter, as from 1985 all machines have been equiped with an auto pilot, an automatic hover stabilisation and modern avionics for all weather and night use. The cargo hold of the Mi-26 is similar to that of a Lockheed C-130 Hercules. It can carry 90 fully equiped soldiers or two air-lifted armoured carriers, or a standard 20 ton container. Ground forces from countries such as India, Ukraine, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Mexico and others already received the Mi-26. Until 2001 about 300 machines have been built in the helicopter factory in Rostov on the river Don.

    Presentset Slaget om England 1:72

Ett fint set med fyra olika modellflygplan. Denna låda med plastmodeller är perfekt som present då den är komplett med färg och lim.

The legendary Battle of Britain represented a significant turning point in the German efforts at expansion during the Second World War. In preparation for the invasion, in the summer months of 1940, the German Air Force started massive attacks on British towns and RAF aerodromes. In this solitary defensive battle they were faced by only 700 Spitfires and Hurricanes flown by young and inexperienced pilots. On lst July 1940, RAF Fighter Command had fewer fighter planes and pilots than the Luftwaffe. Until September 1940 therefore small air defence units had been principally used in order to retain sufficient reserves. By the beginning of August the Luftwaffe had already lost over 300 aircraft in attacks on English ships and ports. However the achievement of air superiority in the airspace over the south of England was considered to be a fundamental requirement for a successful invasion. The German air force command was convinced that the RAF fighter defences could be eliminated by a battle of attrition. The aim was to force the RAF fighter squadrons into battle and destroy them. Since 1937 radar stations had been set up along the British coasts. These enabled early detection of incoming German bomber formations. The fighters were guided to the enemy by "walkie-talkie" radio. The German command underestimated the effectiveness of this system. 13th August 1940 - "Eagle Day" - marked the beginning of a series of major attacks against RAF installations, coastal radar stations and Royal Navy bases. From 7th September the focus of the bombing raids moved to the London area, primarily carried out by the He 111 and Ju 87. For the first time the attackers were countered by numerous British fighter units. After 29th October the major bombing raids against London were carried out at night. This last phase, in which night attacks were made against targets all over England, lasted until May 1941. The night attacks on Coventry in November and on 8th April 1941 were the heaviest bombing raids of the war to date. In these air attacks 27,450 civilians were killed. By the end of October 544 RAF Fighter Command had lost 544 pilots and 1,547 aircraft. By May 1941 German losses had risen to over 4,600 men and 2,200 downed aircraft. The attempt to wage a strategic war in the air with inadequate means had failed. The Fighter Command "Hurricanes" and "Spitfires" had mounted a successful defence against attacks by the German Luftwaffe.

    Sd.Kfz. 9 FAMO with earth spade 1:72

The Sd. Kfz.9 - 18 tonne heavy towing vehicle is one of the best known and most powerful German World War II tractors. About 2,500 of the final version were made between 1939 and1944 and used for recovering tanks and also for transporting heavy artillery and bulky goods. In particular the field maintenance troops could not have done without the FAMO for recovering heavy German tanks and in particular the Tiger 1. In order to prevent skidding during recovery, some vehicles were equipped with a rear earth spade that could be rammed into the ground.

    Space Shuttle Atlantis 1:72

The space shuttle developed by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, is the only reusable space transport system in the world. It consists of the following components: the space shuttle (orbiter), with three reusable main engines, an external fuel tank and two solid fuel rockets with a lift-off thrust of 12.46 MN (1.270.566 kp). The space shuttle can take a payload of 24.5 tonnes and 7 astronauts simultaneously into a low earth orbit at an altitude between 200 and 650 km. In addition the shuttle is capable of docking with the ISS with the aid of docking adapters. Since the last Apollo flight in 1975, the Shuttle is the only possibility available to the USA of taking men into space using their own means. The first space shuttle launch into space took place on 12th April 1981 with the "Columbia". When further orbiters were completed after 1983, NASA considerably intensified their scientific experiments and strategic military activities together with the US Air Force. Communications and research satellites were transported into space, repairs were carried out in situ and the International Space Station, ISS, was built up and provisioned. The "Challenger" was launched into space for the first time on 4th April 1983. The "Discovery" followed on 30th August 1984. Since 3rd October 1985, the fourth space shuttle "Atlantis" has been used on 26 missions. The "Endeavour" was first launched on 7th May 1992. This shuttle was equipped with numerous new pieces of equipment and computers and therefore had much higher overall capacity. All other orbiters were gradually equipped with the new components. The orbiters can remain in space for a maximum of 28 days. The enormous structural and thermal loads on take-off and landing require continuous monitoring and maintenance of all components as well as improvements to the equipment. The heat shield on the front and under side of the space shuttle is particularly vulnerable and is inspected and repaired as necessary after each mission. In two tragic accidents in which the whole crews lost their lives, in 1986 the "Challenger" and in 2003 the "Columbia" were lost. After a two-year interruption and extensive modifications to the orbiters and the main tank, flights were resumed. Their most important successes include the launch of various space probes and the Hubble space telescope, the Magellan (Venus) and Galileo (Jupiter) probes, various flights with built-in laboratories, flights to the Russian Mir station and the International Space Station (ISS). The last space shuttle flight is scheduled for 2010. A new study by NASA indicates that consideration should be given to extending the space shuttle missions until 2015.

    Tank transporter SLT50-3 ELEFANT & SaAnh. 52t. 1:72

The Elephant was designed for improved mobility on the battlefield and to meet the increasing need to transport heavy tanks. Development started in 1970 and by April 1976 the first vehicles out of a total of 324 were ready for delivery to the German army. One of its advantages is the 8x8 all-wheel drive. Between 1994 and 2000 the German army undertook a general upgrade programme for all 324 vehicles to enable the Elephant to remain in use until at least the end of 2015. It is customary for the crews to give their vehicles nicknames such as Baby Hörmann or Dumbo. The Elephant is also used by the German army contingent operating under IFOR, SFOR and KFOR mandate. Since 2002 it has also been used by the Polish army.

    Tyskt tungt artilleri 21cm Mörser 18 1:72

As it was used on all fronts in World War II the 210 mm Mortar 18, which was built from 1939 onwards, was one of the main German army heavy artillery guns. It was constructed of an upper and a lower mount with a double recoil system. In order to bring the mortar to the firing position the platform was lowered and secured to the ground with stabilizers, the wheels were raised and the lower mount was suspended from the limber. With an elevation of 0o to +70o it had a maximum range of 16,700 m using the 210 mm shell 18 or the 210 mm shell 18 concrete. As a rule the mortar was transported in two loads, but if it was needed in a hurry it could be towed in one piece by the Sd.Kfz.9 FAMO.
