The Africa Corps was dispatched in early 1941 to help Italian troops that were stationed in Libya to fight off the British. By the following summer, this well-armed alliance had pushed the British soldiers back into Egypt. This fact is all the more impressive when you consider that the British greatly outnumbered the German and Italian troops. Although the Africa Corps proved its tenacity throughout these early battles, it eventually surrendered to the Allies following the Battle of El Alamein. The kit and weapons carried by the infantry were decisively improved over the long war years. To enable them to keep up with the tank units, the gunners were upgraded to mechanized infantry. The K98 carbine was gradually replaced by semi-automatic weapons such as the MP40, 43 rifle and 44 automatic rifle, in order to increase the combat capability and fire power of the individual soldiers. This agile and fast spaceship is used by the Naboo space battle corps. Armed with twin laser cannon and proton torpedoes, despite its unprepossessing appearance, it is a respecTABLE fighter, although it is primarily used for patrol and escort duties. The design was created by Naboo engineers. The ship has its own hyper-space-drive. For navigation support and minor repairs the Droids who are accommodated behind the cockpit are used. The unusual shape can be explained by the focus on minimum noise and emissions when flying in the atmosphere of the home planet. Anakin Skywalker operated the Naboo fighter in episode I on the control ship of the Droid troops and ended the conflict on Naboo with the destruction of the large space station

The robust and heavily armed Republic Gunship is used for air-to-ground and air-to-air combat and for transporting infantry troops. The gunship pilots sit one behind the other in the cockpit. The primary armament of the ship, two massive rocket launchers, are mounted on its back, the lighter lasers are operated from glazed bubble-shaped wing mounts. Additional glazed gun turrets can be extended. The Clone troops carried can defend themselves with their own or the manoeuvrable on-board weapons that are kept in the cargo area. The Republic Gunship plays a central role in the War on Genosis, in which the Jedi and Clone troops engaged in massive action against Count Dookus Droid army. The speed of the gunship is a decisive advantage against earthbound vehicles.

Darth Mauls personal spaceship is conspicuous for its unusually long nose. Its best feature by far is the camouflage system that makes it invisible to most sensors. The equipment is operated by the rare and costly stygium crystals that are only obtainable on the Aeten II planets in the outer rim, so that hardly any such camouflage systems are found on other spacecraft. In addition to its six concealed laser cannon, the Infiltrator carries a broad range of additional equipment, including Darth Mauls Speeder and various Droid sensors. The powerful ion drive gives it high speeds in space, while the Sienar SSDS hyper spacedrive only offers medium speeds. The Infiltrator is known for the pursuit of the Jedi on Tatooine and was discovered on Naboo after the showdown with Qui Gon-Jinn. The origin of this spacecraft is unknown, but that it is connected with the Sienar System research laboratory is shown by the round cockpit, also a feature of the TIE Fighter series. Darth Maul is one of the Zabrak people and comes from the planet Iridonia. He is recognizable by the round horns on his head.

This Corellian transporter is one of the fastest and best equipped spacecraft in the galaxy. The Millenium Falcon may look like an old wreck, but continual modifications have made it into something special. The Falcon played an important role in the destruction of both battle stars and is probably the most famous ship in the galaxy. Inside the ship, which is twenty seven metres long, is a hyperdrive, that gives it almost double the speed of any imperial star cruiser. The heavily armoured Falcon has an illegal sensor bank that can track imperial craft at great distances before they become aware of the Falcon. The craft enters into battle with the latest imperial deflector system, two quad laser cannon and two disruptors.

The modified T-47 Airspeeder built by the Incom Corporation has an afterburner that enables it to reach a speed of a good 1100 km/h, but it is not capable of space flight. As one of the most widely used types of spaceship in the Start Wars Galaxy, the T-47 is met with in practically every industrialised world. The T-47 modified by the rebels is known as the Snowspeeder and was used in the battle on the ice planet Hoth in order to hold the approaching AT-AT in check. The modifications also included technical alterations to prevent the immediate freezing of the drive systems. Thanks to their high speeds the Snowspeeders are difficult to hit. The strong ropes that were originally intended for the transport of heavy loads and were used effectively against the AT-ATs are fired like harpoons. The pilot who shares the cockpit back to back with the gunner can, if required, take over complete control of the weapons in addition to the navigation.

The German Commando Special Forces (KSK) officially went into service on 20th September 1996. The task of the KSK, in addition to the execution of long-distance reconnaissance missions and combat behind enemy lines, is defence against terrorist threats within the terms of engagement of the forces and the release of hostages within the framework of evacuation missions. The KSK, which is 1000 soldiers strong, comprises four commando companies and one long-distance reconnaissance company. After missions to capture war criminals in Bosnia and Kosovo, there were latterly over 100 KSK troops involved in seeking out AlQaida terrorists in Afghanistan.
